Basketball Recap: Xavier Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bacon County over Thomasville

Bacon County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thomasville Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-50 back in January.

Bacon County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Xavier Harris, who posted 14 points and three steals. Harris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Amar'E Ryals, who scored six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Bacon County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Thomasville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Burkes Jr. out in front who went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. What's more, Burkes Jr. also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Antoine Garland Jr. was another key player, going 5 of 11 to rack up 16 points.

Bacon County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Thomasville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Bacon County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-44 victory against Brantley County on the 7th. As for Thomasville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 72-65 loss against Worth County on the 7th.
