Volleyball Recap: Dwyer Breaks into the Win Column

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Merritt Island, Dwyer was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the South Fork Bulldogs.

While Dwyer might've won, it sure wasn't easy: South Fork scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18.

Alexia Marchese paced Dwyer's offense, picking up 14 kills. Marchese got some help from Victoria Addazio and her 20 assists. Marchese was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Eldred, who had 18 kills, 11 digs, and two aces. Kensy Eldred was another key player, getting eight kills, eight digs, and four aces.

Dwyer's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South Fork, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dwyer will take on King's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Fork, they will face off against Benjamin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
