Baseball Game Preview: New Prairie Cougars vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

For the second straight game, New Prairie will face off against Mishawaka Marian. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. New Prairie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

New Prairie lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mishawaka Marian, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Cougars beat the Knights on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Colton Griffiths spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Davis was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

New Prairie pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-7 record.
