Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Meridian Mustangs

The Liberty Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Meridian Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Monday, Liberty beat Warren County 62-55.

Meanwhile, Meridian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 92-17 victory over Manassas Park. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Cougars are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meridian's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Liberty was taken down by Meridian 96-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
