Football Game Preview: Central Yellow Jackets vs. Mayfield Cardinals

The Central Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to take on the Mayfield Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Western 55-6 on Friday. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Daivaughn Bell-Maxwell, Jaxson Wyatt, and Destin Basemore, who each picked up one sack apiece. Central received some extra help from Shane Stikes, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, while Mayfield put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Fort Campbell. The Cardinals breezed past the Falcons to the tune of 58-0. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cardinals had established a 56-point advantage.

Mayfield's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
