Volleyball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

Hillcrest lost to Taylorsville back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Huskies came up short against the Warriors, falling 3-0. The Huskies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Hillcrest was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by exactly two points. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-23, 29-27.

When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, don't look at Luke Gessel. Despite the final result, he had 12 digs and five aces. Gessel is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Sterling Swasey was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs gave him a new career-high.

Hillcrest now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Taylorsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Cyprus on the 21st. As for Taylorsville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Salt Lake Academy on the 20th.
