Softball Recap: New Holstein Huskies vs. Roncalli Jets
New Holstein won the last time they faced Roncalli and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Huskies put the hurt on the Jets with a sharp 21-1 victory. With that win, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Makayla Meyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jenna Horn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Manderscheid, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
New Holstein always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roncalli only posted an OBP of .111.
New Holstein's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Roncalli, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Coming up, New Holstein will take on Sheboygan Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roncalli, they will face off against Chilton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Jets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
