Ansonia extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 12-10 in the process. They blew past the Legacy Christian Academy Knights 19-2. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Miley Walls made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ansonia got a massive performance out of Shyann McKenna, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lillian Kaiser was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.
Ansonia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Legacy Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the five games prior), but Ansonia's pitcher proved too tough.
On Legacy Christian Academy's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa West, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that West has hit this season.
Looking ahead, Ansonia will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Recovery at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they will square off against Yellow Springs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
