Baseball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

Newton extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 7-14. They lost 9-0 to the Diboll Lumberjacks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lumberjacks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on April 2nd.

As for Diboll, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For Diboll's part, they got a big performance out of Emelio Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run was Lopez's first of the season. Ryile Arambula was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Newton will head out to challenge Pollok Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Diboll does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
