Softball Recap: Miami Christian Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Miami Christian's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coral Shores Hurricanes a 24-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Victors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Daniela Marquez and Renata Silvas made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Marquez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Silvas struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). At bat, Marquez scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Silvas scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Marquez a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Romina Casillas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Camila Holguin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.

Miami Christian pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Coral Shores, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Miami Christian will welcome St. Brendan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Brendan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Coral Shores, they will venture away from home to take on Somerset Academy South Homestead at 3:30 p.m. on March 13th.
