James River Midlothian put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Albemarle Patriots with a sharp 12-2 win.

Jayden Grant made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grant was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Matthew Baggett was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jake Schumacher, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

James River Midlothian's record is now 3-0. As for Albemarle, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James River Midlothian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on L.C. Bird at 6:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Albemarle, they will welcome Spotswood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Spotswood will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Albemarle surely won't give up without a fight.
