Basketball Recap: Nolan Mitchell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jordan-Matthews over Eastern Randolph

After flying high against Graham last Monday, Jordan-Matthews came back down to earth. The Jordan-Matthews Jets fell 66-56 to the Eastern Randolph Wildcats on Wednesday. The Jets have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Jordan-Matthews' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Mitchell, who went 10-for-20 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Mitchell a new career-high. Kamarie Hadley was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight assists.

Even though they lost, Jordan-Matthews was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Eastern Randolph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Timothy Brower, who posted 23 points and five rebounds. Brower's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Julian Brooks, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and seven boards.

Jordan-Matthews' defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Eastern Randolph, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Jordan-Matthews has already played their next contest, a 59-48 victory against Bartlett Yancey on the 7th. As for Eastern Randolph, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 83-63 win against Uwharrie Charter Academy on the 10th.
