The Park Vista Cobras will take on the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Park Vista will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
While Park Vista's victory against Dwyer wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cobras narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 5-4.

Angeline Mergen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Hannah Durante was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Katie Ristau also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Park Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cardinal Gibbons, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Calvary Christian Academy on Friday. Considering the Chiefs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Leonard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Cardinal Gibbons let Morgan Beavers and Dakota Williams run wild. Beavers got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, while Williams scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Jackson, who scored a run and stole two bases.
Cardinal Gibbons has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Park Vista, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Park Vista has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cardinal Gibbons struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Park Vista took their victory against Cardinal Gibbons when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cobras since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
