Softball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack

The Franklin Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Franklin came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Pleasant Grove, falling 7-0. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Franklin got a good showing from Leilani Garcia, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Monterey Trail on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-8. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amyah Avila spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Ava Fong made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Franklin's record now sits at 14-11-1. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their record is now 6-12.
