Barnwell scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans. The loss leaves the Warhorses still looking for their first win of the season.

Leading Ridge Spring-Monetta to victory were Ny'Asia Young and Kennedy Ligons. Young dropped a double-double with 17 points and 22 boards, while Ligons went 7-for-13 on her way to 14 points. Young is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when she posts at least eight rebounds the team is 5-1 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). Taylah Leaphart was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five boards and five steals.

Barnwell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their record now sits at 6-3.

Coming up, Barnwell will take on Lake Marion at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Denmark-Olar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
