Preview: South Hills vs. Polytechnic
South Hills is 8-1-1 against Polytechnic since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South Hills Scorpions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Polytechnic Parrots at 8:00 p.m. South Hills' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Friday just wasn't the day for South Hills' offense. They fell just short of Everman by a score of 1-0.
Meanwhile, Polytechnic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 6-2 loss at the hands of Arlington Heights. While losing is never fun, Polytechnic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 561st, while Arlington Heights is ranked 82nd).
South Hills has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Polytechnic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-2.
South Hills came up short against Polytechnic in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 2-0. Can South Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
