Softball Game Preview: Central Catholic Raiders vs. Dracut Middies

The Central Catholic Raiders will head out to face off against the Dracut Middies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Central Catholic got the win against Methuen by a conclusive 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dracut). Everything went their way against Lawrence on Friday as they made off with a 20-7 victory. The Middies not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 19, 2025 (when they won 21-2).

Leah Dery was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those triples were her first of the season. Aiva Pitman was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Dracut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dracut's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8-2. As for Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Central Catholic got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 against Dracut by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
