The Upper Arlington Golden Bears will face off against the Brunswick Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Upper Arlington has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Upper Arlington took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Hilliard Bradley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Bears had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Will Gilmore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Upper Arlington secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Matthias Nemeth, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Nemeth a new career-high.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Brunswick made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cleveland Heights on Thursday. The Blue Devils blew past the Tigers 10-4. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Brunswick also got a great performance from Kayden Draiss as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Draiss also tossed two walks, which is notable because the Blue Devils are undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 5-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Elijah Poindexter was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Brunswick is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Jake Tamosiunas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Brunswick lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland Heights didn't launched any.
Upper Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Brunswick, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Upper Arlington came up short against Brunswick in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 9-6. Can the Golden Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
