Basketball Game Preview: Chatfield Chargers vs. Arvada West Wildcats

The Chatfield Chargers will head out to take on the Arvada West Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Chatfield is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest win since December 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 76-56 margin over Bear Creek. The Chargers pushed the score to 55-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Indiana Hostetler, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points. The dominant performance also gave Hostetler a new career-high in assists (four). Nolan Feddersen also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Chatfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Creek only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Arvada West faced Valor Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Arvada West took a 70-55 bruising from Valor Christian. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Chatfield will need focus on slowing down Cooper Vais, one of several Arvada West players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Keegen Balistreri, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points.

Arvada West's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Chatfield, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Chatfield came up short against Arvada West in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 46-35. Can Chatfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
