Baseball Recap: Eastwood Christian Starts Season with Victory at Home

Eastwood Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Evangel Christian Academy Lions a 14-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won five contests in a row dating back to last season.

Jacob Worley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Worley was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Eastwood Christian got a big performance out of Cole Dozier, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Brady Goldberg, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Evangel Christian Academy is on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Eastwood Christian is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Victory Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will challenge Eastwood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
