Softball Game Preview: Presentation Panthers vs. Archbishop Mitty Monarchs

Presentation hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Mitty recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Presentation has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Presentation fell victim to St. Ignatius College Preparatory and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Archbishop Mitty sidestepped Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory for a 2-1 victory.

Kyleigh Mace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Archbishop Mitty's win bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Presentation, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Presentation hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Archbishop Mitty struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
