Baseball Recap: River Mill Continues Home Dominance on Friday

River Mill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Southern Wake Academy Lions as they made off with a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

River Mill let Aydan Smith and Harrison Saenz run wild. Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Saenz scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in RBI (three).

River Mill pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Wake Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Mill will welcome Durham School of the Arts at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Durham School of the Arts has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.14 runs per game on average), something River Mill will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southern Wake Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Southern Wake Academy Lions take on River Mill Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
