Softball Recap: Chazy Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Chazy won against Lake Placid last Friday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Eagles beat the Boquet Valley Griffins by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The victory was just business as usual for the Eagles, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Kennedy Columbus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Courtney Collins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Pender Bechard, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Chazy pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Boquet Valley, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Chazy will head out on the road to square off against Moriah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Boquet Valley, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Johnsburg Central at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
