Softball Recap: Cotulla Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Cotulla extended their postseason success on Thursday against Cole. They skirted past the Cougars 8-7.

Christlyn Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sareen Ramirez and Eloyandra Zertuche did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Zertuche went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Zertuche has posted since back in February. Erynn Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Cotulla is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Cole, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17-1.

As of now, neither Cotulla nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
