Midland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Newport, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mustangs fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 8-6 on Monday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Jace Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden York, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Midland's loss dropped their record down to 20-12. As for Newport, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midland will host Riverview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newport, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Rivercrest at 4:30 p.m. The Colts will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Greyhounds surely won't give up without a fight.
