Soccer Game Preview: Righetti vs. Santa Maria

Righetti is 1-9 against Santa Maria since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Righetti Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Santa Maria Saints at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Righetti is headed into the contest having not lost since December 7 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Pioneer Valley finished up their game with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Righetti's goal came courtesy of Jose Ibarra, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Santa Maria entered their match against Arroyo Grande on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Santa Maria fell just short of Arroyo Grande by a score of 2-1. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Saints couldn't quite close it out.

Righetti's draw gives them a new season record of 13-1-4. As for Santa Maria, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4-2.

Righetti came up short against Santa Maria when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Righetti avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
