Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Pass Eagles vs. Del Rio Rams

The Eagle Pass Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Del Rio Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagle Pass will be strutting in after a win while Del Rio will be coming in after a defeat.

Eagle Pass took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against United South, sneaking past 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since November 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Del Rio lost 66-44 to Medina Valley on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 861st, while the Panthers are ranked 194th).

Del Rio has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Eagle Pass, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-8.

Everything came up roses for Eagle Pass against Del Rio in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 77-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eagle Pass since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
