Baseball Recap: Westlake Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Westlake had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Riverside on Thursday. The Demons were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Beavers. The victory was familiar territory for the Demons, who have now won four games in a row.

Westlake got a great performance from Blake Jensen as he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Jensen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sean Brouillard and Ethan Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Brouillard got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Thompson went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Thompson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Biller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Westlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Westlake's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake will face off against Steele at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverside, they will take on Cleveland Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
