Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Emma Kate Beckham and Marli Kate Shockley Lead Wheeler to Victory

Thrasher typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Wheeler proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 41-36 victory over the Thrasher Rebels. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won three matchups in a row.

Leading Wheeler to victory were Marli Kate Shockley and Emma Kate Beckham. Shockley dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Beckham posted 19 points along with five assists and three steals. That's the most points Beckham has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Macie Arnold, who put up four points and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Wheeler was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in five consecutive games.

Wheeler has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Thrasher, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-4.

Wheeler will be playing in front of their home fans against Tremont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeler is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. Thrasher has already played their next matchup (against Vardaman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
