Basketball Recap: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers
The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners lost to the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers back in December of 2023, but the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners didn't allow the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Nazareth Academy had just enough and edged the Hilltoppers out 51-48.
Talen Pearson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rasim Johnson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Nazareth Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. As for Joliet Catholic, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nazareth Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Marian Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Roadrunners in Illinois (the Spartans are ranked 52nd, while the Roadrunners are ranked 301st). As for Joliet Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Dons at 7:00 p.m.
