Softball Recap: Parsippany's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Parsippany put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They beat Sussex County Tech by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. While the Redhawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Arianna Zajac made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Olivia Freire was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. Nicole Coughlin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Parsippany kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Parsippany's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Sussex County Tech, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Coming up, Parsippany will challenge Newton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Redhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sussex County Tech, they will square off against Hackettstown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
