Baseball Recap: Zion Christian Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

Zion Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Tri-Unity Christian Defenders. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 6-4 victory on Tuesday.

Zack Wierenga spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Moes, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Tuinstra, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Zion Christian's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-Unity Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
