Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

La Salle is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bishop Amat is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. La Salle will welcome Bishop Amat at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games La Salle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Monday, La Salle narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Charter Oak 4-3. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Morgan Sullivan and David Eriksson dominated on the mound. Sullivan pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits, while Eriksson tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Eriksson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Travis Ochoa was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Drew Ward was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bishop Amat owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Serra. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted against the Cavaliers since March 7, 2023.

The result came thanks to Justin Peinado's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Bishop Amat's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adan Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Bishop Amat, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
