Rowlett hasn't had much luck against Sachse recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sachse will be up against a hot Rowlett team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles blew past North Garland 12-2 on Wednesday.
Audrey Torres made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Torres was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Emma Gonzalez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Julissa Casta?eda was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Rowlett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Sachse's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Naaman Forest a 21-0 shutout.
Like Rowlett, Sachse also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Schultz. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schultz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Sachse got a massive performance out of Cailyn Shane, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maya Mcclarity, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Sachse pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rowlett, the victory got them back to even at 14-14-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Rowlett hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Sachse struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Rowlett's way against Sachse in their previous meeting back in March, as Rowlett made off with a 9-3 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
