Softball Recap: Sterling Black Bears vs. Little River Redskins
Sterling fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Little River on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 10-9. The Black Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Redskins earlier this season, when they won 9-7.
Adyson Surface put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off two hits. Surface was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Surface wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shklar Olsen, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Another was Carli Wilkey, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Little River, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Sterling does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Little River, they are taking a road trip to take on Sedgwick at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redskins are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
