Softball Game Preview: Newport Grizzlies vs. Northwest Christian School Crusaders

The Newport Grizzlies will venture away from home to challenge the Northwest Christian School Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Thursday, Newport came up short against Riverside and fell 8-4. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Genica Kreider was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Monk, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Kreider wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Newport lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Northwest Christian School entered their tilt with Reardan on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Screaming Eagles. 18 seems to be a good number for the Crusaders as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Northwest Christian School's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Newport, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Newport might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Northwest Christian School in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Newport avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
