Basketball Recap: Nottoway Find Success

Nottoway hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost five straight) but thanks in part to Anton Carter Jr that streak is no more. The Nottoway Cougars walked away with a 60-49 victory over the Amelia County Raiders on Tuesday thanks in part to Carter Jr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played.

Jahmir Crowley was another key player, putting up nine points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DAWSON DUNNAVANT, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was JAQUAN PEGRAM, who earned 12 points and five steals.

Nottoway's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Amelia County, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Nottoway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-37 victory against Randolph-Henry on the 15th. Amelia County has also already played their next game, a 69-63 loss against Lunenburg Central on the 16th.
