Basketball Recap: Van Vleck Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Van Vleck's game on Tuesday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past the Brazos Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Leopards also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Vleck to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carlysia Gibson, who posted 14 points. Kailey Paschall was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Van Vleck's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-17. As for Brazos, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.

Van Vleck has already played their next game (against East Bernard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Brazos Cougars duke it out with the Hempstead Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Brazos is facing Hempstead at the right time seeing as Hempstead is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
