Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Academy Eagles vs. Morse Shipbuilders

Lincoln Academy is 0-10 against Morse since May of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will host the Shipbuilders at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

On Thursday, Lincoln Academy had just enough and edged out Gardiner 4-3. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

AJ Giberson made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Lincoln Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8-1 otherwise.

Giberson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Grady, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Blake Gamage was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Morse narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Brunswick 5-4.

Jackson Murray was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Verrill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Morse pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-9-1.
