Soccer Game Preview: Miami Beach vs. MAST Academy

The Miami Beach Hi-Tides will head out to square off against the MAST Academy Makos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Miami Beach's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on South Dade with a sharp 4-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hi-Tides.

They hit South Dade with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Yadell Alonso, Jamary Joseph, Santiago Lemos, and Tomas Visintini.

Meanwhile, MAST Academy entered their tilt with Jackson on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Everything went their way against the Generals as they made off with a 5-0 victory. Given the Makos' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Generals are ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

MAST Academy pushed their record up to 10-1-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those seven games. As for Miami Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 12-2-2 record this season.

Miami Beach skirted past MAST Academy 2-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miami Beach since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
