Basketball Recap: Coahulla Creek Takes a Loss

Coahulla Creek lost against North Cobb Christian back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Coahulla Creek Colts took an 83-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Cobb Christian Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Colts still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Coahulla Creek still got an impressive performance from Cullen Marti, who posted 29 points. Those 29 points gave Marti a new career-high. Gage Voyles was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Cobb Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Butler, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 23 boards. Butler is becoming a predictor of North Cobb Christian's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Robich, who went 7 of 14 en route to 22 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Coahulla Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for North Cobb Christian, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Coahulla Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-49 loss against Ringgold on the 7th. As for North Cobb Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-46 win against Murray County on the 7th.
