Recap: South Central Trojans vs. Lucas Cubs

The South Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Lucas on the road and fell 75-48. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while Lucas is ranked 88th).

South Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Knoll, who scored 14 points, and Eric Sanders who scored 14 points along with four steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Ray, who scored five points along with six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lucas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aidan Culler, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Culler continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Diehl, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists.

South Central's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. As for Lucas, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

South Central will head out on the road to face off against Buckeye Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lucas will be home for the holidays to greet Loudonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Loudonville is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
