Softball Game Preview: Carbon Dinos vs. Gunnison Valley Bulldogs

Carbon has gone a perfect 4-0 against Gunnison Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Dinos will venture away from home to take on the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. One thing working in Carbon's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.

While Carbon's win against Delta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dinos won by a run and slipped past the Rabbits 16-15. With that victory, the Dinos brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Carbon got a massive performance out of Sage Vea, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Vea has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brailee Peterson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carbon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Gunnison Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Duchesne on Monday and fell 5-3. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Carbon pushed their record up to 11-14 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Gunnison Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-8.

Everything went Carbon's way against Gunnison Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Carbon made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Dinos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
