Softball Recap: McLeod Gets the Win

While McLeod's win against Harleton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Longhorns sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Wildcats on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Anna Dempsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison Blair, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaci Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

The victory got McLeod back to even at 2-2-1. As for Harleton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLeod will challenge Liberty-Eylau at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Harleton, they will take on Crosby at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
