Basketball Game Preview: Academy for Classical Education Gryphons vs. Central Chargers

Academy for Classical Education is 0-4 against Central since January of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons will be playing at home against the Central Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Academy for Classical Education is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 71-55 to Southwest. While losing is never fun, the Gryphons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Patriots are ranked 39th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Camden Bailey, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Davis, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Central didn't have too much trouble with Northeast on Tuesday as they won 59-45.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Academy for Classical Education, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Academy for Classical Education suffered a grim 74-50 defeat to Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Academy for Classical Education avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
