Softball Recap: Ridgefield Extends Home Winning Streak to 14

There's no place like home for Ridgefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Hockinson Hawks with a sharp 17-3 win on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spudders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Madeline Bruguier made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abbey Hite, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Wolski, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Ridgefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Ridgefield pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hockinson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgefield will challenge Hudson's Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spudders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hockinson, they will take on Woodland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beavers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
