Volleyball Recap: Salem Academy Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Isaac Gomez and Joshua Cayco

It was a good run, but Salem Academy Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lynn Vo-Tech Tigers by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in April.

Salem Academy Charter took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 15-13.

Salem Academy Charter's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joshua Cayco, who had 32 assists, and Isaac Gomez, who had six aces and four digs. Cayco is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Gabriel Navarro also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Salem Academy Charter's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lynn Vo-Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Salem Academy Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lynn Vo-Tech, they will venture away from home to face off against Greater Lowell Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gryphons will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
