Basketball Game Preview: Pikes Peak Christian Eagles vs. Miami-Yoder Buffaloes

Pikes Peak Christian is 10-0 against Miami-Yoder since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Pikes Peak Christian Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pikes Peak Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against Thomas MacLaren School last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 70-68. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now lost eight in a row.

Pikes Peak Christian might have lost, but man, Eddie Harmon was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 17 rebounds. Harmon has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 21 times he's played. Matthew Crocfer was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Pikes Peak Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Miami-Yoder against Manzanola on Friday as the squad secured a 55-23 win. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for the Buffaloes this season.

Miami-Yoder has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Pikes Peak Christian against Miami-Yoder when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 64-35 victory.
