Softball Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short

Wheatmore lost against West Davidson last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wheatmore Warriors took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Davidson Dragons. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Adalyn Boles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Emma Carter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Wheatmore now has a losing record of 3-4. As for West Davidson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheatmore will challenge Randleman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Davidson, they will face off against North Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Stanly's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so West Davidson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
