Softball Recap: Hamilton County Foxes vs. Pinckneyville Panthers

Hamilton County and Pinckneyville squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Hamilton County had to settle for second. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Foxes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Hamilton County got a good showing from Zoe Baylor, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Baylor has allowed over her last eight contests.

On the hitting side, Kiley Gray made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsie Ashcraft, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hamilton County now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Pinckneyville, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8.
